The Great Divide
04:40
|
|||
The other day, it occurred to me that we had crossed the great divide.
The endless roar of another age that long ago had passed us by.
Close your eyes, envision the impossible. Just think tomorrow is another day. I found a sad song that I had been searching for. Please tell me why you cry and why you said to me, goodbye.
I hear a songbird, not a thrush or nightingale but a mockingbird who mocks me. A silent scream, a tear, a bell, a raindrop, they all sound the same to me.
Your silence screams. Sulking behind your disguise where did you go, what shall I do?
Close your eyes, envision the impossible, The one you left so long ago for dead but never died, never died.
I heard an echo, some obscure, redundant little phrase keeps coming to me. The one you left so long ago for dead but never died, never died, never died.
Never, never give up, so they say.
Just think tomorrow is another day.
I found a sad song that I had been searching for. Please tell me why you cry and why you said to me, goodbye.
Goodbye!

Now I Know
03:18
|
|||
Here I am, your long lost friend, shall we scour treasure once again?
A vinyl castaway, you can follow me, I know the way
We’re headed to the top, getting in the groove, and off the ground
It’s time to throw away every heavy stone that drags me down
Oh where oh where might I find salvation?
I hope she wasn’t just an hallucination!
I spend every day on the inside
Painting outside the lines of expectation
Love, peace and harmony are under the gun.
But that’s nothing new under the sun!
Now I know, Now I know, Now I know!
Throw your gold into the wind, only love endures until the end
My saddle shoe suitcase, I surrender to your holy face
Today is the day I will break it down and shake it out.
No time to ruminate, your life was wasted on the roundabout
Oh where oh where might I find salvation?
I know she wasn’t just an hallucination!
Treasure we will find on the outside
Shouting to the sky in exultation.
Love, peace and harmony outnumber the gun.
And our inner lights outshine the sun!
Now I know, Now I know, Now I know!

Wading the Deep
04:01
|
|||
Do you want to be lazy, or do you want to get crazy?
We can circle around what we found in this deadbeat town
Well are you down for a space flight?
A supersonic sound for the uptight
And if we fly all night we’ll be there by the morning light
Play in dark, weigh beauty spark
Run, seek, fly, cry, tear in my eye
Well I saw you on the front steps drinking formaldehyde
Are you stupid or just too lazy to go inside?
Now don’t just sulk in the corner, don’t be a forlorner
Like a Beatle in the basement with nowhere left to hide
Raincoat rhyme, expanding space and time
Smile song of joy, blue lost lonely boy
Well if you want for the what for
And the middle of the street is a dance floor
Keep going back to the cut slack flashback candy store
Well I just can’t take it, that special way that you shake it
But I won’t be hanging around for the third world war
Wading the deep, don’t wake me from my sleep
Blinded by sight, I pray for the light

I Don't Know Anymore
03:22
|
|||
Well I used to shine a light upon the shadows of this lonely place
And I hoped for the redemption of the planet and the human race
I don’t know anymore, I don’t know anymore
Should I bury the remains of my conformity?
As I gaze into the mirror of hypocrisy?
Should I try to find an exit off the roundabout?
Should I try to beat the clock or let the time run out? Well!
What do I know?
I know the sun will rise tomorrow
And my love for you will never fade away
And we can’t repay the time we borrow
There was a day when it was easy to be sure of all that I professed
I never had a doubt about the clarity that I possessed
I don’t know anymore, I don’t know anymore
Should I trust again and risk another double fake?
The next move that I make could be my next mistake
I can’t seem to find an exit from the roundabout
Looks like I waited much too long and let the time run out, well!
What do I know?
I know the sun will rise tomorrow
And my love for you will never fade away
And we can’t repay the time we borrow

Grab A Paintbrush
03:22
|
|||
Grab a paintbrush, but there’s no rush
I’m tuning up the orchestra in the early afternoon
And by evening I’ll be sipping tea
With the man up in the moon
Maybe someday, I’ll pay off that layaway
I broke the piggy bank, one too many rainy days
Just a little blue, a fallen tree or two
It’s Friday night, I’m tuning in to watch the Twilight Zone
Then I’ll meet you at the graveyard
By the pile of cobblestones
If you wander down by the broken bridge
You might see the ghost, she's the girl I love the most
And when I come back home from fighting tyranny
Across the sea I’ll ask my wondrous darling
Will you marry me?
Now the final touch, but not too much
I may not be prolific like Monet or Vince Van Gogh
And don’t judge me if I fall asleep
Underneath the mistletoe
There’s more than one way to portray the falling snow
Until I make that scene, I’m turning up my radio

Dance with Your Daughter
03:30
|
|||
I’m gonna dance with my daughter before she rides off into the sun
Cause in the blink of a big brown eye she’ll be on the run
I’m gonna dance with you like we used to at the Upside Down Cafe
We really danced those summer nights away
Ooh feel that motion, like the ocean blue
Oh, swinging, swaying, can’t live without you
Oh, I’m crying in the rain but all I have to do is dream of you
Stay just a little longer and come go with me to the sweetheart tree
Mary Lou she just won’t do, I only want to dance with you
You better dance with your daughter, she’s just waiting there for you
And when she bats those lashes you’ll do anything she asks you to
Go on and dance with the one you love, call her turtle dove
And she might just need to know that she was
Sent straight down from heaven above
Ooh endless summer, little drummer girl
Oh shake, rattle, roll it, your my diamond, pearl
Ah, September do you still remember
Fun, fun, fun in the warmth of the sun
And I should have known better than to
Court and spark let’s go dancing in the dark
But I won’t be seen with Billy Jean
Because you’re my only dancing queen
I’m gonna dance with my daughter before she rides off into the sun
Cause in the blink of a big brown eye she’ll be on the run
I’m gonna dance with you like we used to at the Upside Down Cafe
We really danced those summer nights away

The Geology Song
03:51
|
|||
In a billion years, will we belong
In the perfect place, this perfect atmosphere?
Can we just go back to yesterday?
When the stream was cold and washed my fears away
But I feel tectonic plates are drifting underground today
I’m sorry if that makes you feel this way
Well they say you gotta get both feet off the ground
Heavy gravity, and it’s world renowned
These Cenozoic bags I carry around
The stratigraphy of a world upside down
Oh, Dear Doctor Connel, did I make the grade?
Or am I just a glass of supernova lemonade?
Great balls of fire are brilliant things,
Do constellations move in a spiraling ring?
Do they contract, do they expand?
Are they shrinking like a grain of sand?
But the color of the light has changed to a slow retreating band
As I slip away
I hope that you might take my outstretched hand
Well I feel a little sedimentary
As the granite stones roll over me
This metamorphic heart has one last plea
Please take care of my dearest magnolia tree
Oh, Professor Edwin, are you proud of me?
Or am I just another relic from the Tertiary?

Lullaby of the Dragonfly
02:52
|
|||
In an ancient lullaby, I became a dragonfly.
High above the sea, where to find a banyan tree?
Minstrels sang a serenade, waiting for the moon parade.
By the Pearl of old Guangzhou,
Autumn leaves turned into snow.
You ask me why a dragonfly would brave the stormy sea?
A whisper from my dreamcatcher, it was meant to be
Ten thousand miles, untold turnstiles, a longing in your eyes,
And if you listen, you might hear an angel cry.
Then the tears became a song.
We’re in the place where we belong.
If you teach me how to sing,
I can show you how to fly with a broken wing.
Let’s shower the world with fairy dust
And wrap it in the arms that are bound around us.
I’ll need it when I’m old
Can I keep your heart of gold?
I couldn’t have imagined you in any place or time
But there you were to make complete, an uncompleted rhyme.
Lullabies and Dragonflies, an angel’s broken wing,
You and I, we share these precious things.

Outside the Asylum
03:57
|
|||
If we survive the last cliche
I think everything will come together.
This is just a phase I’m going through
But there’s a long and slow delay,
Waiting for those waves to roll ashore
And when I find my key, I’ll be free to open every door.
But will I see you on the other side?
Can you show me all the secrets that they hide?
I, myself and me, butterfly, magnolia tree
In a dream I was flying outside the Asylum
All these sad refrains, falling down like summer rain
In a dream I was flying outside the Asylum
With an ear pressed to the ground
Supersonic screams don’t bother me.
This teenage craze will come and go.
But as I face these cold and windy days,
There’s a spark to set my heart ablaze
And this is why the blues and I,
Today, must go our separate ways.
But will I have the guts to carry on?
I know I’m gonna miss you when your gone
I, myself and me, butterfly, magnolia tree
In a dream I was flying outside the Asylum
All these sad refrains, falling down like summer rain
In a dream I was flying outside the Asylum
